Lenten Schedule 2022
We have a theme for Lent this year: “Letting go.” It begins with our daily devotional booklet, which is titled “Letting Go with All Your Heart, Soul, Strength, and Mind.” (They are available at the back of the nave and will be available in the Drop Box. If you need us to mail one to you, let Amy know.)
SCHEDULE
February 27: Last Sunday before Lent. After worship, pick up a Shrove Tuesday bag with some frozen pancakes, syrup, and printed information about Shrove Tuesday. (Make sure you pick up a devotional booklet, also!) Note: There will not be enough pancakes in the bag for a whole meal! Think of it like the bread you receive at Communion: it’s not meant to fill your stomach, but as a sharing in the Body of Christ.
March 1, Shrove Tuesday: We will not be hosting an in-person Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper this year (hopefully, we can return to this custom next year!), but join Fr. Mark in a token “Zoom eating of the pancakes” at 6:30pm on March 1, followed by a Zoom worship service of Compline. (There will be links to the Zoom sessions in the Belltower.)
March 2, Ash Wednesday: We will have our Ash Wednesday liturgy and Communion at 12:00pm and 7:00pm, in person at Church. If you are unable to attend and would like someone to bring you Communion and ashes, please let Fr. Mark know. We will livestream the evening service. Watch this video about Ash Wednesday.
March 5: Half-day Lenten Retreat with Tom Stella, in person, Christ Church parish hall, 9:00am-2:00pm. Cost: $25 (checks made to "Tom Stella"), includes lunch. Please let Fr. Mark know if you intend to attend, so we may plan for lunch.
March 11-April 8, Fridays: We begin our Fridays in Lent, with Stations of the Cross (hopefully in person, in our Chapel) at 7:00pm, followed by a Lenten study of our devotional booklet (hopefully, in person in our Parish Hall).
April 10-16, Holy Week
Throughout Holy Week: Outdoor Stations of the Cross (more information to come).
[Wednesday, April 13, 7:00pm: Tenebrae Service tentatively scheduled; the Rev. Wendy Owens officiating. More information to come.]
Maundy Thursday, April 14, 7:00pm: In-person Holy Communion and Maundy Thursday Liturgy,
followed by the Maundy Watch
Good Friday, April 15, 7:00pm: Good Friday Liturgy
Easter Sunday, April 17, 6:00am: The Great Vigil of Easter {Possibly followed by Easter Brunch; stay
tuned!]
10:00am: Festive Holy Eucharist
