At our Lenten Study on Love Wins, we discussed that if Jesus is "the Truth", than anyone who knows and lives in the Truth knows and lives in Jesus. I mentioned my Muslim friend who gave me a photo with these words, "Brothers in Christ". Muslims can know Christ? Yes. Billy Graham, in an interview with Robert Schuller, said, "[God is] calling people out of the world for His name, whether they come from the Muslim world or the Buddhist world or the Christian world or the nonbelieving world, they are members of the Body of Christ, because they’ve been called by God. They may not even know the name of Jesus, but they know in their hearts that they need something that they don’t have, and they turn to the only light that they have, and I think that they are saved, and that they’re going to be with us in heaven.” Here is a thoughtful article by a Muslim on the death and resurrection of Jesus: http://omidsafi.religionnews.com/2013/03/30/between-good-friday-and-easter/

Following up on our Lenten Study on Love Wins, and especially the chapter Dying to Live, here is an interesting take from a Lutheran pastor. http://mccoffey.blogspot.com/2012/04/fractal-mystery.html Another interesting article from Christianity Today about the Book of Common Prayer and its influence (click here).
Many of you are very familiar with N.T. ("Tom") Wright, a Biblical scholar who, like C.S. Lewis, seems to attract Christians from a wide spectrum of traditions and denominations. His work is voluminous, and keeps coming! Like Lewis, he strikes a balance between conservative and liberal; and like Lewis, he is a deeply spiritual man. We have been using his commentaries in our women's and men's Bible Study groups for some time. Recently, I found an article in Christianity Today about him which you might be interested in (click here).
Wright is of special interest to Episcopalians and other Anglicans, since he is an Anglican bishop of the Church of England (retired from his diocesan post). As such, he brings the Anglican perspective to a wide audience of Christians. |
