Laundry Love, June 24
Report from our June 27 Laundry Love session:
There were 32 guests and 128 loads of laundry! This ties us with February's session as the largest group we have hosted. We put quarters in machines totaling $345.50! Our first guests had their belongings in the machines waiting for hosts when we arrived at 12:15pm. Our final guest came in at 3:30! A full van-load came from Mercy Today's luncheon (thank you, First Christian for the use of the van and By and Lynn for driving!) Again, thanks go to Dr. Randy Ruggles, who coordinated the transportation of people living at the Loaves & Fishes Shelter.
Cheryl Gould's Team Tumble hosted, with the following hosts assisting Cheryl: Ron and pb Walsh, Kathy Fogle, Ann Roche, Fr. Mark, Barb Smith, Jim Maxon. The next Laundry Love session will be Tuesday, July 25th with Team Spin hosting.
Again, we were profusely thanked (often with tears) for this ministry by our guests, for whom this obviously is a great gift! Several said that they would not be able to wash their clothes were it not for Laundry Love. It is clear that there are a lot of people living "on the edge" in our community.
Thank you for your continuing commitment to this ministry!
Drop in and Visit!
If you have never been present during a Laundry Love session, please drop in and see what it's all about! You will meet some amazing folk, and we are sure you will feel the love of God filling the room!
What a BLESSING it is to be involved with each of you in this mission of engaging at the grassroots level to engage with local individuals in need!
July Laundry Love
The next Laundry Love session will be Tuesday, July 25 with Team Spin hosting.
El Pomar Grant
Laundry Love is SO blessed to have received a Merit Grant from the El Pomar Foundation through the El Pomar Central Peaks Council, of which Debi Blackwell is a member! The grant was presented to Fr. Mark, representing Laundry Love, at a dinner ceremony at the Steam Plant in Salida on June 9, 2017. Debi is the one who is totally responsible for our receiving this MOST generous grant. One more time: THANK YOU Debi Blackwell!
At the event, Mark had the pleasure of meeting some amazing, caring human beings. What positive energy and caring filled that room! One of the Council Members Mark had the privilege of meeting is Jim Little, son of “Doc” Little, a former leader of Christ Church, now owner and publisher of the Wet Mountain Tribune.
Laundry Love is Spreading!
The Wellspring Church in Florence was so impressed with Laundry Love that they are starting a Laundry Love in Florence the third Thursday of the month from 11:00am-3:00pm!
