ECW includes All women in the Episcopal church. Participation is voluntary and free. Brought to Christ Church by Lois Kitchell, our main commitments are fellowship and fundraising.
Volunteer teams from our ECW work at the Episcopal Church Women’s Thrift House in Colorado Springs three days each month; our earnings go to outreach (60%), non-budgeted Christ Church projects (30%), and the national ECW (10%). We meet the last Thursday of each quarter (Jan, Apr, July, Octr) to allocate our spending. Fun! To volunteer, call Ann Roche at 275-8788.
More fun: Each Fall, ECW holds a Festival Fair to sell baked goods, needlework, crafts and attic treasures. Our profit goes for mission outreach. We welcome all the community to these happy events. To participate, call Debi Blackwell at 235-7144.
We always need volunteers! To find the many ways to be part of ECW, please talk to Shirley Squier at 719-269-3455.
Our Baby Blanket Ministry Our Episcopal Church Women’s outreach to new mothers and families through making baby blankets for new born babies at St. Thomas More Hospital has been a fine success for our 9th year of this ministry. Becky prints our cards to enclose, with a prayer for raising children from our prayer book.
We have delivered 130 blankets during 2013 to the hospital. Our work days have been very productive, with some ladies cutting, some ladies pressing and some ladies sewing. We always have a good, good time just being together and doing something fun. Thank you to all who have purchased material and helped us. Some of you have quietly created your precious gifts at home by yourselves. We have been using funds raised by the women working at Thrift House for our supplies. We individual workers have contributed many of the yards of fabric too. We are grateful for each one of you who has worked so faithfully and been so very generous to make this outreach touch the lives of some who do not have family to support them. God is working His purpose out and these mothers have the resource of a lovely prayer to help them raise their children and to bring God’s presence into their lives, as well as a pretty blanket to wrap them in and keep them warm.
We have had several work days throughout the year to complete our goal to supply 120-130 blankets this year. We work with joy and have a fine sense of purpose. Come and share in our fun! For information call Sally at 719-285-8801.
